Birmingham NEC – February 2008
Under the banner of KATO Europe and displaying the headline of
WHEN PRECISION MATTERS
METAL COMPONENTS AT THE HEART OF YOUR DEVICE
both KPE and KEN attended the recent MEDTEC Event held at the UK National Exhibition Centre
The MEDTEC exhibition and conference has become one of the fastest growing events within the UK for the Medical Device market, with device designers, manufacturers and many of the major drug pharmaceutical companies in attendance.
European Sales Manager, Mr Graham Perkins in discussion
with a visitor to the KATO Europe’s stand during the
recent MEDTEC 2008 Show.
KATO have maintained a presence at this event for many years now as it has become an excellent opportunity to continue to develop new and existing relationships and to showcase new technology to many of the companies at the leading edge of medical device development.
For the second year running KATO Europe ran the Micro Spring competition with several branded special edition Nano-iPods as the final prizes, with each purchase of these iPods KATO was also able to contribute donations to AIDS Relief programmes and charities within Africa.
The competition was based on asking visitors to guess the number of different types of ADVANEX micro springs, ranging from compression springs to torsion springs, placed within different containers.
To maintain the medical theme and to make it more interesting and difficult for the entrants the springs were housed within ten varying sized laboratory test tubes.
Many of the answers were markedly different with visitors coming up with several new and innovative ways of working this conundrum out however nearly always the winning answer was a guess !!

The show and competition were the ideal showcase and opportunity for KATO to present not only the global presence of the ADVANEX Group but also the Micro Springs and many other group products as well as KATO product design and development capabilities.
The components displayed ranged from hinges through to insert moulding as well as wire inserts in addition to displaying many of the medical products that currently have precision components developed and manufactured by KATO Europe such as the anti-tangle compression springs and several examples of the precision wire shapes for medical devices which have been developed over the past few years.
What Next! – KATO Europe will be partnering their sister company KATO Spring Singapore at the next MEDTEC event taking place in Germany during March.
