MDI (Metered Dose Inhaler) Released

For several years KATO(Europe) have been working with a world leading pharmaceutical giant to produce the worlds first ever Metered Dose Inhaler with a counter for asthma patients and during December 2004 the product was released into the market.

After 5 years in development, the new counter will enable Seretide patients to track whether they have taken their daily dose more easily and ensure they know when to replace their inhaler.
“It should prove beneficial to those who may have trouble remembering whether they took their treatment” says Dr Carol Cooper, GP in West London. “As the mum of a young son with asthma, I know how hard it is for children and elderly people to keep up with the regular use of their inhalers, especially if they are feeling well. This advance will give patients and their parents a useful method of checking that the inhaler is used as prescribed”.
The counter is a new addition to the existing Seretide Evohaler but nothing else has altered, the Evohaler works in exactly the same way as the current product and is the same size and weight with a count accuracy of more than 99%. In addition the price of the inhaler has not been altered thus further benefiting patients.

KATO (Europe’s) Director General Manager, Mr Paul Clifford commented “It has been a long, hard development programme, but the efforts and time which the project team have invested have been worthwhile. I am sure that the group as a whole will be proud to be associated with a product which has such a significant positive effect for patients across the globe”
